tiger bone wine is a traditional Chinese medicinal wine, which is made from sorghum wine soaked in tiger bones and other Chinese herbal medicines. It can be traced back to the Han Dynasty and was recorded in Li Shizhen's "Compendium of Materia Medica" in the Ming Dynasty. In the 1970s–1980s, it was mainly produced by state-owned pharmaceutical factories (such as Li Shizhen Medicinal Wine Factory, Beijing Tongrentang, Wuhan Mayinglong, etc.). In 1993, because the tiger was an endangered species, China completely banned the use of tiger bones as medicine, and all tiger bone wine products were completely stopped from that year.
