Napoleon Courvoisier Collection buyback

History of Courvoisier Napoleon

Emmanuel Courvoisier founded a wine-trading business in Paris in 1809, and the house moved to Jarnac, east of Cognac, in 1843 to begin Cognac production formally. The brand's distinctive history includes eaux-de-vie from the 1811 Comet vintage associated with Emperor Napoleon's court. In 1869, Napoleon III granted the house the honour of supplying the imperial court, helping earn Courvoisier the name 'The Brandy of Napoleon.' Its emblem is Napoleon's silhouette.

Valuation highlights on this page

  • Courvoisier is divided into brands Napoleon, Napoleon level and other brands of Napoleon, and the valuation logic is different.
  • The old box packaging, bottleneck capsule, back label and fill level status are the main basis for judging the age and condition.
  • It can be estimated together with Camus, Hennessy, Martell and other brandy to avoid looking at a single one in isolation.

FAQ

Courvoisier’s explanation is called “Wine of Napoleon”?

In 1811, the base wine of the "Year of the Comet" was designated by Emperor Napoleon as a royal drink for his relatives. In 1869, it was awarded the honor of "royal drink" by Napoleon III. The brand logo is the silhouette of Napoleon.

How does How do L'Esprit Lalique Crystal Edition and other Extra differ?

L'Esprit uses a Lalique crystal decanter, whereas Extra releases from many other houses use Baccarat. The engraved bottle is a classic Lalique design. A complete example with its limited-edition number and Lalique certificate is a high-end collectible.

What level does Courvoisier XO Imperial belong to?

Courvoisier’s XO flagship, “Imperial” reflects the brand’s Napoleonic heritage. The base wine is aged for 11-25 years and is blended from four major production areas, mainly Grande Champagne.

Is a Courvoisier Napoleon from the 1970s–1980s still valuable?

valuable. Courvoisier's Napoleon grade has a long history. The old version from the 1970s to 1980s with its red carton, plain English back label, and gold medal design is a hot collector's item. The buyback value is about 1.4-1.7 times the current version.
