Key points of this article (organized):"Gaosheng Liquor" is one of the earliest shochu workshops in Moutai Town.

"Gaosheng Liquor" is one of the earliest shochu workshops in Moutai Town. In 1704, Ji Sheng Liquor officially named his home-brewed wine "Moutai". Later, "Moutai" became famous far and wide, and other shochu workshops in Moutai town also used the name "Moutai". The year 1704 has also been identified as the traceable historical source of Moutai.

In 1986, the Kweichow Moutai distillery launched the "treasure" Moutai. The "1704" seal was used in the trademark design, symbolizing the long history and high-end quality of Moutai.

1. Who wrote these five words "Kweichow Moutai"?

In 1985, the Kweichow Kweichow Moutai distillery decided to launch a new product "Treasure", and the important task of writing the "Kweichow Moutai" wine label was entrusted to the great Lingnan calligrapher Mai Huasan. At that time, Mr. Mai Huasan was already an old man.
After hearing the news, Mr. Mai happily wrote the five characters "Kweichow Moutai" in a calm, steady and powerful font.

2. Why is the English trademark not MAOTAI?

In 1915, at the Panama International Exposition, Moutai became famous immediately. At that time, the English name of Kweichow Moutai used the pinyin of KWEICHOW MOUTAI.
In 1958, after the implementation of the "Modern Chinese Pinyin Plan", the Wade-German Pinyin system was gradually replaced by modern Chinese Pinyin. However, since the image of Kweichow Moutai is already well-known in the international market, the spelling KWEICHOW MOUTAI continues to be used, and the English trademark has always been MOUTAI.

3. Is it really impossible to brew Moutai if you leave the town of Moutai?

In 1974, Moutai launched an off-site production plan. From technical personnel to process flow, to raw materials, auxiliary materials, production equipment, and even test bases, they were also moved from the Kweichow Moutai distillery. The tests were carried out in strict accordance with the Moutai traditional brewing process and natural changes.
The entire off-site test lasted 11 years, went through 9 cycles, 63 rounds, and more than 30,000 analysis tests. In 1985, Zhou Henggang, leader of the evaluation team of the National Wine Appraisal Committee, led more than 50 experts to inspect the results and found that Moutai could not be brewed.

4. Why is Moutai 53 degrees?

Regarding the Moutai degree, there is a classic experiment: 53.94ml of pure alcohol is added to 49.83ml of water. The volume of the mixture is not 103.77ml but 100ml, which is magically reduced by 3.77ml. That is: 53.94 + 49.83 = 100, and ≠103.77.
This experiment has a profound impact on the baijiu industry. It turns out that when distilled wine is at 53% volume, that is, around 53 degrees, water molecules and alcohol molecules are most closely associated, the state is the most stable, the wine is the most saturated, and it is also the most suitable for storage.

5. How many cups can be poured from a bottle of Moutai?

Feitian Moutai comes with a matching Moutai cup. This small wine cup can not only gather the aroma of the wine, but also make it easy to observe the color of the wine.
Moutai cup has been updated for three generations and has several specifications: the first generation is 15ml, the second generation is 10ml, and the third generation is about 8ml. Based on a 500ml bottle of Moutai, if you use a small wine glass of about 8ml to hold wine, you can probably pour about 62 cups.

6. What is the use of Moutai red ribbon?

The red ribbon of Moutai not only has a decorative effect, but also has a certain anti-counterfeiting effect, because the number on the inside of the ribbon is the job number of the Moutai packaging employee, which can be traced accordingly.
In addition, since the material of the streamers is cloth, it has water-absorbing properties. Once the Moutai bottle mouth is not tightly sealed, the ribbon will become wet, so that you can initially determine whether there is wine leakage.
